main now requires a status matching CI / ci *. Pushes made with the built-in Actions token trigger no workflows, so the CI workflow never runs on the release PR (#2 had no statuses).

The Release job runs pnpm run ci on the release commit, then posts the result as CI / ci (release).
The release PR body now says merging stages the version for 2FA approval.
.envrc is git-ignored, so local tokens stay out of git.
RELEASING.md documents the branch protection rules.

The status post is verified on the next release PR.
